Friday

I worked on this small (7" x 9") painting at art group this week. I wanted to show a lot of depth from foreground to the mounains. Not sure I accomplished it.

I took this photo out my upstairs bedroom window last week. Would love to be able to paint a sky like that. I know it can be done!

It was looking really dark outside yesterday afternoon, but I wasn't paying much attention. All of a sudden there was a loud "CRASH" and a boom of thunder. I about jumped out of my skin. Barrie was just coming home and was in the carport. She said it hit the light pole down on the street, and we were surprised we had power.
Then it started to rain/snow/sleet enough to make the ground white. It all blew through, and the sun started to shine again. You gotta love spring in Pinedale!

Actual Exam answers: English GCSE exam:

During the Renaissance America began. Christopher Columbus was a great navigator who discovered America while cursing about the Atlantic. His ships were called the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Fe.

Queen Elizabeth was the “Virgin Queen.” As a queen she was a success. When she exposed herself before her troops they all shouted “hurrah.”

The greatest writer of the Renaissance was William Shakespeare. He was born in the year 1564, supposedly on his birthday. He never made much money and is famous only because of his plays. He wrote tragedies, comedies and hysterectomies, all in Islamic pentameter. Romeo and Juliet are an example of a heroic couplet. Romeo’s last wish was to be laid by Juliet.

Another etching I found in the basement.

I have two more pictures of people who have been arrested, and are wearing shirts that maybe they shouldn't have.

Here's an interesting fact: On this day in 1935, Alcoholic Anonymous was founded by William G. Wilson and Dr. Robert Smith. Just thought I'd share that.

Wednesday

My watercolors of the three old cabins are hanging above the "mantle" at Rendezvours Pointe. The first one is the Eklund cabin, which used to be out on Pole Creek Road. The middle one is on the Mocroft place along the New Fork River. The third one was in the Daisy Pass area, out of Cook City, Montana.

The Eklund cabin is gone. As far as I know, the Mocroft one is still there. The Cook City cabin probably burned the summer of the Yellowstone fires.

Swinging! When she started to twist around, she was yelling "Help me Grandma!"

I'm bummed. I thought I ordered the original "first" Star War movie, but what I got was the trilogy, Nos. 4, 5 and 6.

I lost my credit card some time ago. I called two weeks ago and had it blocked, and they said they would issue me a new one. I thought she said in four or five days. When I called today to see what was holding it up, she said it usually took about ten business days. I asked her to please check on it for me. She told me it had been issued June 4. What a hassle! Can't live without that plastic, though!

Tuesday

This morning I ended up on the 2 Wire page. That's my wireless router, and it shows my laptop, Barrie's laptop, and this computer all on the home network. And I was able to open some files on my laptop. Now why can't I get the Windows system to show that? Doesn't make sense.

Just finished taking all the chicken meat off the bones and ready to make some chicken salad or something.

Found this picture of a guy who had been arrested for something. Probably not the best shirt to be wearing, under the circumstances.

The cat is on the stairs, all fussed up and mad. She is attacking her tail. Barrie just sneaked up on her and grabbed her and cut her toenails. She snarls and growls all the time, but it is all fake.

Monday

Kasey is smelling "her purple flowers" she bought with her birthday money.

Barrie dicovered some of these little Blue Grape Hayanciths blooming among the quakies in the corner. Tracy had sent me a basket of bulbs several years ago, and after they bloomed in the house, I planted them outdoors. The other bulbs have disappeared, but these little guys are still hanging in there.

Barrie just mowed the lawn, so the dandelion flowers have been cut off.. We have a lot of dandelions in our lawn. The places Barrie seeded are really starting to come. I think it just hasn't been warm enough for the seed to grow. Yesterday afternoon, it was 74 degrees outside! Wow! I heard thunder at dusk, it rained a little bit, and the frogs in the hayfied are really singing. Barrie got our watering system working again. Yay!

I cooked again yesterday. I just never give up. Actually, I did a beer butt chicken, and it was good.

Sunday

A couple more funny pictures I found on the Internet that I want to share.

Somebody stole my bike!

This makes me laugh.
*******************************
I spent some more time on the desktop computer this morning. I have my desktop icons arranged just the way I want them, but Windows 7 will rearrange them and put them all on the left side of the screen. I move them where I want them, then the next time I look, Windows has dumped them all back on the left side. Irritating! I found a little simple program to download that lets me save my desktop arrangement. Yay! One more problem solved.

Now I can't figure out how to share files between Windows 7 and Windows XP. It was so nice to be able to open files on my laptop that were on the desktop downstairs, and vice versa. And I could drag and drop photos and documents and have them saved on both computers. I can print OK, but don't have file sharing set up right. I found an article on how to do it, so will try that later. Tomorrow's another day.

Oh Boy!! I'm going to cook again today! I'm going to make beer butt chicken. That should be hard to ruin.

Saturday

Barrie was gone when I got up this morning. I was hungry and fixed a couple of fried eggs and some toast. When she came back, she chewed me out for washing her dishes. She didn't realize I had cooked.

She had gone to Specialty Meats early this morning. Chuck had called her said they had meat for her.

I took an etching class a long time ago. There was an etching press in the high school art room. I had forgotten about this one of an owl. I found it in the basement yesterday. While I was etching, Barrie did a linoleum print.

I had too much time on my hands the other day, and found some funny stuff on the Internet. Below are three "test answers" someone has collected and posted.

While she was waiting for her Mom to finish her supper, Kasey snacked on a dill pickle. I don't know how she can drink milk while eating a sour dill pickle, but she liked it.

I posted this photo on Facebook, but I'll put it here too. Really grabs you.

I need to stay out of my basement. Or maybe I need to spend a week down there cleaning and organizing. I found this pencil drawing I did years ago. The boots and jeans are Mike Ramsey, and I made Chuck hold a beer can for the rest of it.

A beautiful, wet day. I can almost hear the grass growing. My neighbor's trees are all leafed out, but mine aren't!

Thursday

There are some very dark clouds in the sky. Sure looks like rain.

More birthday for Kasey. She sure knows what presents are, and wasted no time ripping into it. Her grandad brought a package from Kelly last night.

This is one of those fabric frisbees that folds up. When I asked Kasey to read me what it said, she said "I love sled dogs."

Kasey was in the bath tub when Chuck got here, so her hair is wet.

Grandpa got down on the floor and played with her. He made something with four legs, and Kasey insisted it was a spider.

Another quote from Facebook:
"I asked some people if there are too many illegal aliens in the US. 17% said yes. 23% said no. the other 60% said, "no habla ingles.""

*************************************

Someone mentioned "downtown Farson" not long ago. I hear people use that term a lot, and it always makes me laugh. Is there some more Farson that I don't know about? Just where is "downtown Farson" and how do I know if I'm there?

Barrie and I were eating at the old Oregon Trail Cafe in Farson once. Some women and kids were sitting at another table. One little boy was acting up, his mother asked him "Do you want a spanking?" Barrie and I got started giggling and couldn't stop. Think about it. How many kids are going to say "Yes?" And I'm sure we've all said that to our kids at some time.

Wednesday

Judi, Vicky and I were the only ones at art group this morning. Nancy came in later. Then Conley came and put in a video. Poor guy sat at one end of the room watching his video and trying to hear it over three women talking.

Donna Dixon stopped in to say hello. She was with her daughter, granddaughter, and maybe some great granddaughters. Abby Larson was with them. Haven't seen her in many years!

Vicky said she didn't want to go home because she had so much to do. I told her "me too."

" I have to take my shoes off, turn on my radio, and turn the pages in the book I'm reading."

I have ordered three new books. For some reason, I have never read some of these classics, and I want to: "The Great Gatsby," "To Kill a Mockingbird," and "Catcher in the Rye."

Porter is pacing

Nellie is playing with Maddy.

There is some serious dog training going on in my back yard. Barrie brought two sled dogs to town for a visit. Nellie is a happy playful dog, would like to be a housedog. Porter is one of the dogs Barrie just got last winter, and he is still very nervous and timid. Barrie turned him loose in the back yard, and I wasn't sure she was going to be able to catch him again. When she did, she attached Nellie to Porter with a leash, and started walking around in the back yard. Nellie would follow her, so of course Porter had to go with her too. I'm sure she will turn him into a lap dog after she works with him a while!
