Saturday

Kasey's birthday was the 24th, but she is having a party at PAC with a few friends this afternoon.  Barrie stopped to put packages in my pickup, and while she was doing that, both Dotty and Spur took off.  Spur came back when she called, but not Dotty.  She walked to Ridley's parking lot, calling her and looking for her.  A cop had Dotty on a leash at Sugar Shack and heard Barrie calling her.  So they were all united, and Barrie was embarrassed.  I thought it was quite clever of Dotty to find a cop when she was lost!

I gave Kasey money for her birthday to buy flowers for her planters in the yard. But yesterday, I gave her a very expensive toy - a cardboard box.  Yes, it's true.  A kid will play with a cardboard box as long as they last.  This one ended up in the dumpster at the end of the day, after giving its all.

********************

I found out yesterday that Betty Jo H. broke her hip, had surgery, and is now in the nursing wing.  I haven't seen her.

***********************

I was tempted to sign up for an on-line class on painting photorealistic water colors.  Then I stepped back and slapped myself.  My goal is to paint looser, not tight and controlled.  Got past that crisis without spending any money!

Friday

Kasey arrived at 7:30 this morning to spend the day. I leave the door unlocked for her, she comes in, starts the coffee pot, opens the drapes, and gets the iPad.  What a difficult child!

She forgot to bring the cookies I sent home with her last time she was here, but I happened to have some graham crackers, which hit the spot.

*********************

They turned on the sprinklers here this morning.  The lawn and the mature trees look great, but the flower beds are pathetic.  They are choked with weeds, grass, and dandelions.  I think they didn't budget much for the care of them because they were planning on tearing down this building.  So the flower beds have been neglected.

And I have missed seeing Boo and Maggie around here, the two Border Collies who belong to Ken, the maintenance man.  When I asked him why Sublette Center didn't want the dogs in the building any more, he told me it was a certain person who worked for the city.  Seems she didn't approve, so the dogs have been kicked out.

Someone is on a power trip, I think.  I guess because we are a public building, she can do that.  I wonder about all the dogs that visit the nursing wing, used as therapy.  I hope they are immune to her whims.

This is Clyde, Kasey's cat.  Seems he has gone on a "walkabout".  I know a lot of cats tend to wander around in the spring.  I hope he comes home soon.  He is neutered, so he isn't just out tomcatting.

Thursday

Art group was nice yesterday.  Judi, Vicky, Lenore and I were there, and we had such a good time visiting.  And we all accomplished something.  So nice that Vicky is able to paint a little now.

*********************

My neighbor caught me sitting in the big room while my apartment was being cleaned.  And of course she made me promise to attend the "Word Therapy" session this afternoon.  If I told her I didn't want to come, I think I would feel like I was kicking a puppy.

Then I went into the dining room for a coffee refill, and got trapped again by people who were wanting to talk.

****************

The neurotic cat has maybe been pushed over the edge today. She never leaves the apartment, and today she went out in the hall with me when I started to go down to ride the exercise bike.  I kept walking, just to see how far she would go before she chickened out.  She stayed with me, and walked all the way down that long hallway, protesting every inch of the way.  She stayed in the room while I was riding the bike, and started down the hall with me when I came back.  Then she decided to just sit down and cry.  I came back to the apartment without her, and could hear her wailing.  When I came back, she had gone back into the room, and came when I called her.  She stayed right beside me.  I haven't been able to walk across the floor since them.  I have a cat wrapped around my ankles.

Have I ever mentioned that Barrie has made me promise I won't die until after the cat dies?

******************

Tracy posted this picture of the view from the deck at their new house.  Very nice!

Wednesday

I'm so ready for a nap this afternoon.  I don't know why I'm so tired.  Must have been something I dreamed.

******************

I just talked to Ken and Kevin about some things.  First, they promised to put the bench back outside the door, said they'd been planning on doing it.  But when I asked about the fence, they weren't so agreeable.  Ken said they are required to have it because of insurance.  I still think they could remove just one end of it so someone could walk straight out onto the lawn, which is level.

Ken said I should not be using the fence as support to climb down the bank to the street, and that if I walk down the sidewalk past the flower beds, it gets level so I can get to the bird feeder I'm going to put outside my window.

He told me it's good for me to walk, and I told him he was a nag!

Monday

Barrie and Kasey just left for the store.  Barrie is going grocery shopping for me this afternoon.  Good kid!

Kasey turned seven years old Saturday.  She was supposed to go to her Dad's place for her birthday, but I guess he wasn't able to come get her.  He's supposed to have her every other weekend, but that very seldom happens.  Funny after all the fights and threats the last few years, he doesn't spend much time with her.  Not that we're complaining!

Uncle Will?  Well, maybe.  I remember my dad's uncles talking about him, said he married Aunt Betty.  I'm not sure that gives me any bragging rights.

*******************

Barrie posted a video of Kasey bottle feeding a kitten out at the animal clinic.  Someone left a box of five orphan kittens at the dump.  And whoever found them brought them to the animal clinic.  I wasn't able to share the video, but could capture one frame from it.

Sunday

Just finished watching the Indy 500.  I am not really that much of a NASCAR fan, but enjoyed watching this.  I don't think I've ever seen them completely stop the race for a time because of a wreck.  It made for an exciting final 8 laps.

I was kind of rooting for Marcus Andretti.

Pinedale had connections to the Indy at one time.  The owners of the Speedway once owned the Circle S Ranch up the Green, and Don B.  lived there as a caretaker.  Maybe he is still here.  He also drove a pace car.

And Leroy N. moved here and stayed until his death.  He was a race car driver, and also drove the pace car at the Indy.

And if you remember Gracie Jones, she was married to Parnelli Jones. He won the Indy 500 in 1963.

********************

I got in a couple hours knitting this morning while the race was on.  I can knit while I watch.  If I miss something exciting, they show it over again!

Saturday

I really liked the corned beef I cooked yesterday.  Look at all the years I wasted, not knowing that!  I don't remember ever having it at home when I was growing up, so I guess my parents didn't like it.

******************

It rained during the night, and is raining again now.  Everything looks so shiny and green.

The daffodils outside my window are in their full glory right now.  There is one yellow one.

Yesterday I went outside, down the sidewalk, and climbed up the bank onto the lawn.  I'm going to try to talk them into taking that part of the fence down.  From the sidewalk by the door, your can walk straight out onto the flat, even lawn.  No climbing up the bank!

I took my camera with me, and took a picture of my apartment windows.  My neighbor's living room window is to the left.  She always keeps her blinds pulled, and it looks like a dungeon in her apartment.

Kat was a little disturbed that I was out there.

********************

I thought I might watch a "patriotic" movie last night for Memorial Day.  So I watched "Saving Private Ryan".  Sheesh!  I could done without that!  Not sure what I expected,  I think I'll watch Kevin Costner in "Swing Vote".  That's patriotic, isn't it?

Friday

The leaves on the trees are actually big enough to make the trees look green from a distance, I saw a bee on a dandelion, and I found a dead frog in the hallway outside my apartment.  Now if those aren't sure signs of spring, I don't know what is!

But we still want to keep in mind we live in Pinedale.  This is a photo I took out my window on June 7, 2007.   Just saying.

********************

The cursor/track pad on my computer is acting up.  The cursor is all over the place, and is doing strange things.  It was fine until I started using the new vibrator/heat cushion right next to it.  Maybe they won't play well together.

*******************

I just put a "hunk" of corned beef in a pot on the stove with the spices.  The directions say to simmer it for about 3 hours, then add cabbage, carrots and potatoes, if wanted.  I have no idea what to expect.  Except for an occasional can of corned beef hash for breakfast, I've never had corned beef.  Tracy said Paul fixed it once for St. Patrick's Day, and she didn't like it.  Well, I don't want to go to my grave without having at least tried it!
******************

I started a new watercolor yesterday.  It's going to be a snow scene!  (Go figure.)

Wednesday

Ahhhh (I think). I just got one of these cushions for my back, which has been giving me fits.  It's not my lower back, it's right below my shoulder blades.  I don't know what that part of the back is called.  It heats and vibrates at all or just some of those points they've got marked in red.  (It doesn't really turn red.)  It's feeling pretty good right now, so we'll see.

There were five of us in art group this morning.  We had fun going over the maps of Fremont County and the places Judi and Vicky visited.

I worked on a pen and ink of a big horn sheep, and think I maybe have ruined it.  I'll work on it a bit longer before I decide if it's worth finishing.

I mentioned today that I tend to laugh at inappropriate things.

Case in Point!

Tuesday

Just came from a very informative and interesting meeting about the senior apartments.  What I thought was a silly rumor is actually a fact!  They have decided to keep renting these apartments after the new ones are finished.  So it is true that residents here have a choice of whether or not they want to move. So they will have about 50 apartments to rent when the new ones are finished.  I think 21 of the apartments here are presently occupied.

If we want to move, our rent will remain the same.  And they will furnish boxes for packing and move all our belongings and furniture.

There will be no meal service at the new apartments.  There will be weekly housekeeping, but no bathing assistance or things like that.  Each apartment will have it's own outside entrance, and will have air conditioning and a dishwasher.

When the new apartments are finished to a point where they are safe, they will take us over there for a tour.

Interesting development, indeed!

*********************

Tracy called yesterday afternoon.  She was stuck in traffic on I70 and decided to call while she was waiting.  When traffic started moving again, she said she drove by a huge burned out truck.  This picture was in the Vail newspaper today.  Bummer!  The truck was filled with beer!

*********************

I baked cookies this afternoon.  Am going to take them to art group in the morning.  I expect Vicky to take over the baking duties when she gets the cast off her arm!

Monday

I already miss my Kindle.  I read for a while this morning on my Kindle Fire, and that made me miss my old Kindle more than ever.  It's just not the same.  Amazon sells several models of Kindle Readers, but the only ones like my old one are used.  So I am taking a chance and buying a used Kindle.

**********************

I watched the movie "Maximum Overdrive" last night.  It's a Stephen King film about machines in the world coming to life and becoming homicidal.  The film was nominated for two "Golden Raspberry Awards" including worst director for Stephen King and worst actor for Emilio Estevez.  So why did I watch it?  For one thing, it was free, and once in a (long) while, I enjoy a horror film.

I have a book by Stephen King, called "On Writing".  It's kind of an autobiography and a lot about his method of writing.  He says "When I was a kid, my uncle told my mother,' Every time that kid opens his mouth, garbage falls out.' " It's an interesting book.

And I still think his book "The Stand" is an excellent book.

*********************

Isn't this a great idea?  I'm going to have to try it some day.

Sunday

I just finished watching the QVC cooking show.  I don't get it on the TV, but can watch QVC live on my computer.  Now I have to go back later and delete the item I put in my shopping cart - some microwave cooking gadget I just can't live without.  As long as I don't complete my Internet shopping orders right away, I can almost always go back later and delete it.   See? I have will power as long as I wait a while!

*****************

This is for my daughter, Tracy, who does not like bugs of any kind, especially spiders!  I will be nice to her - her birthday is tomorrow.  It was a wonderful day in Kingman, Arizona when she came into my life!

********************
It's overcast today, and slightly windy.  More of the same in the weather forecast for at least the next ten days.

****************

I'm almost to panic!  My old Kindle reader seems to have malfunctioned.  I hooked it up to the Internet this morning to download two new books, and it froze.  I couldn't turn the wireless off and it wouldn't respond to anything.  I finally got it turned off, and have it plugged in to recharge.  It wouldn't turn back on.

I can still read my books on the Kindle Fire, and even the iPad (which I don't really like).  But I just like my original Kindle so much.

Saturday

California Chrome did it!  He won the Preakness, and his owners are crying.  Pretty exciting.  I love the donkey they have on the back of the silks, jackets and things.  They were called "dumb asses" for buying Chrome's dam, and they use that as their insignia.  Not so dumb, after all! Next is the Belmont.

***********************

Judi and Vicky just called me.  They were at St. Stevens, had been through the church, and were in the cemetery.  They were at the grave of Donovan Blackburn, which I had told them about.

Judi will probably have a photo of it, but here is what it looked like when I visited there several years ago.  Donavon was a high school basketball player for the St. Stevens Eagles, and was killed in an automobile accident.

It was just before Halloween, and you can see how much the cemetery has been decorated.

*******************

This cheery sight is outside my window.

Friday

I had a rough night last night.  Somehow, I ended up in a classroom, and the kids were not behaving.  And the classroom was flooding.  And a pit bull had my hand in its mouth and wouldn't let go.  Where does the stuff in dreams come from, anyway?  I don't usually dream, and if I do, I forget them by the time I'm awake.

*********************

When you don't even own a broom or dustpan, it's not easy to clean up a couple of cups of sunflower seed meats spilled on the kitchen floor.  Those things sure scatter!  I brought the broom in from the outside door close to my apartment, and have used a piece of newspaper to try to capture them.  I hate to waste them, but I guess I'll put them on the ground outside my window.  Some birds will probably find them.

I'm baking my second loaf of bread for the day.  The first one was white bread, and this one has sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and wheat flour.

********************

Yes, I was sociable and went to the little discussion group yesterday.    A new resident was there and  dominated the conversation.  He "impressed" us with his knowledge of Indians - on and on, and on.  He was two of the most boring people I have ever known!

Food for thought!

*******************

So, is California Chrome going to win the Preakness tomorrow?  I have a gut feeling he won't do it, but what do I know?

Thursday

Yes, I kind of lost Wednesday.  I went to art group, then to the recycling center, gassed my pickup up, and went to the liquor store.  Then when I got home, I did laundry.  That's a shameful way to behave when you're retired!

*******************

After watching "Helter Skelter", I decided I needed to watch a "feel good" movie.  I watched "Morning Glory" with Christopher Reeve (Superman) as the lead male.  He is just out of prison, and goes to work for a young widow with three children.  Of course you can guess what happens.  It's on Netflix.

Innocence.  This morning she just lay on the bed watching Xiau Ling when she brought my clean sheets and towels in.  Xiau Ling was impressed and called her "beautiful",

***********************

Yesterday I heard frogs in the meadow by the Middle School!  I am so glad I can hear them here.  They were always really loud in the hay field across the highway from the house.

*****************

Progress, but I still have a way to go on that lantern.  I need to fuss with it!  It is always helpful to look at a photo of a painting on the computer screen.  You can see things you didn't notice before.

Tuesday

Of course it snowed again.  What did you expect? The snow is sliding off the roof, keeping Kat entertained.

And this is what happens when Kat has to entertain herself.  She's usually not destructive,  but she took offense at this refrigerator art drawing of her.  I think she likes the sound of paper tearing.

*****************

I never finished it, but I started watching the movie "Helter Skelter" last night, about Charles Manson.  I don't even remember hearing much about it on the news when the murders happened.  I'm sure it got plenty of news coverage, but to a girl in Shoshoni, Wyoming, what the hippies were up to in California didn't interest me much at the time.  He and three others are still alive, and still in prison.

***************

I finally ate the last of the lasagna out of the freezer.  Now I'm hankering for some kielbasa and cabbage.   And onions, simmered in beer.

*****************

I worked on the lantern of my watercolor painting yesterday.  It's shaping up.

Monday

Sometimes I think about movies I watched years ago and try to find them.  One movie I remembered enjoying was "Romancing the Stone", but couldn't find it.  I only looked for it on Netflix and Amazon Prime (free).  Yesterday it popped up on Netflix, so I watched it last night.  Not your usual Mother's Day pick, but still enjoyed it.

Also found the movie "Twister", which I remember from years ago.  I guess I have a sick sense of humor, because I laugh at inappropriate times.  Like a tense scene where they are trying to pick their way through a house that is buckling and collapsing around them.  A big hole in the floor opens in front of them, and he says to her, "careful".  That's stating the obvious.    He  might have said something like "I dare you to step in that hole."

*********************

I don't know if this will work on a computer screen or not.  I first saw this years ago, and handed the picture to a fellow teacher and told her what to do.  She wouldn't do it, said I was just playing a trick on her.  I talked her into taking it to a private place, and she came back with big eyes and said "Oh my gosh! That's amazing!"

It also works if you just close your eyes.

*********************

I had a healthy breakfast this morning - apples.  It doesn't matter if they were baked in a pie crust, does it?  And lots of sugar added.

Good definition!

Sunday

My beautiful daughters!  Tracy and Barrrie, I am proud to be your mother.  By golly, I did a couple of things very right in my life:

**********************

Barrie and Kasey came to get me for breakfast at the Wrangler this morning.  I would much rather do that than dress up and go out for a nice meal at Lakeside or somewhere like that.  You can't beat Wrangler biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and a sausage patty.

******************

I had a pile of things behind the bathroom door that were beginning to irritate me - a small pet kennel, a bag of potting soil, and two small step stools that I have no business stepping up on.  Barrie and KC hauled them all out for me and will take them to the garage or basement of the house.

Barrie got on my wireless this morning with her new iPhone to update it and back it up.  The minute she got on, I couldn't load web pages on my computer any more.  Strange, because it works fine if we are using a second computer, the Kindle, or the iPad.  But there's something about an iPhone.  It doesn't like to share.

******************

Tracy called right after we got home.  I feel so sorry for them - both holding down a full time job while they are trying to get moved out of a big house in Silverthorne  and into a new one in Gypsum.  Tracy has applied for a job with the Eagle River Fire Protection District.

*******************

The next  time I say I'm going to bake a pie, I hope somebody kicks me and ties me to the couch.  It's been a long time since I worked this hard on something!  The apples were time consuming  and tiring to peel and slice and the pie crust fought me every step of the way.  There were plenty of apples, and as they cooked down, the crust stayed up.  So there is a big empty cave between the crust and the filling.

Looks good, doesn't it?  And it was good.  I sent half of it home with Barrie and Kasey.

Saturday

After our discussion of Tokyo Rose yesterday, I became curious and wanted to know more about her, so I did some checking.

"Tokyo Rose" was a generic name given by Allied Forces to any one of approximately a dozen English-speaking female broadcasters of Japanese propaganda. Iva Toguri was the most famously linked name behind the Tokyo Rose.

She wasn't even a Japanese citizen.  She was a native of Los Angeles, and was stranded in Japan because she was visiting family when the war broke out.  And of course she needed a job.

She was arrested and convicted for treason after the war.  She was in prison until 1956, and finally received a presidential pardon.

There were also English-speaking broadcasters spreading propaganda in Germany and Italy.  "Axis Sally" and "Lord Haw Haw" for example.

******************
And speaking of WWII, I recently checked the PBase gallery I have online, and see that over 500 comments have been left on the gallery of photos from New Guinia, ten of them were as late as April and May of this year.

*****************

I'm giving serious consideration to baking an apple pie today.  I bought too many apples last time I went to the grocery store, and am not using them.

*****************
Enough already!!! I am getting tired of looking out the window at snow falling sideways.

Friday

I woke up this morning thinking about sausage, eggs, and sourdough pancakes.  I woke up late, so it was almost noon before I finished breakfast.  Now I am so full I won't want any supper.

******************

Yesterday's discussion group was . . . .  interesting.   One new resident was there, a minister from Oregon, who played a couple songs for us on the piano. The other one I didn't know was a WWII veteran who joined the navy when he was 17 and served on a ship in the Pacific.  He really liked to talk, but he couldn't hear any of the questions we asked him, just kept talking.

Somewhere in the discussion, someone mentioned Tokyo Rose, and we talked a bit about her.  Ruth came late from the nursing wing, and asked what we had been talking about. When we told her we'd been talking about WWII and Tokyo Rose, she thought a moment, and said "You know, people refused to watch her movies after that."  That brought the conversation to a standstill for a moment.  Finally she said, "You know, Henry Fonda's daughter."

I guess she was referring to Jane Fonda's public comments criticizing our involvement in the Viet Nam war.  I don't remember that much about it, but the public did not appreciate her comments, and maybe she was referred to as being similar to Tokyo Rose.

So . . . . .on with the discussion.  We should talk about the weather.

******************

This is small example of some of the "tubes" included with Paint Shop Pro.  They're like little stamps.  They're kind of fun to mess around with, but I have no idea of a practical use for them.  There are thousands of free tubes on the internet, as well as thousands of free picture frames.

********************

Lynn Thomas once sent me a CD full of photos she took somewhere in the area of Big Sandy.  Lots of art reference material there, and I had her permission to use any of it.

I love the picture of these chickens.

I would love to have the talent to pull off a painting of this old barn.  Lynn had added the word "Mathis" to the title.  I'm sure Judi knows all about these.  She was probably with Lynn when they were photographed.

Thursday - More Snow

We got about another six inches of snow during the night.  It's melting rapidly and water is running off the roof in sheets.

It's beautiful, but frankly, I'm ready to see green when I look outside.

Here are the flowers Paul and Tracy sent for Mother's Day.  They are beautiful.  The vase came with them.  I'm not very good at arranging flowers, but it seems to me the vase should be wider so they could spread out more.

***************

I played around with framing these photos with the Paint Shop Program.  There are lots of frames, and I'm sure I could find more to download on the Internet.

*******************
I met a new resident in the big lounge room down the hall this morning.  She introduced herself.  I remember her little dog's name is Augie, but have already forgotten her name.

*****************

My pickup wasn't where I left it this morning.  I called Barrie and told her that if she didn't have my truck, I need to call the cops.  She had moved it off the street and parked it in the parking lot in front.  The snow is melting so quickly that I doubt if the town will even plow the streets.

You rock, Maxine!

Wednesday - Snow

I woke up at 5:30 this morning to thunder, and when I got up at 7:30, we had two or three inches of snow, and it was still snowing.   By 2:00 this afternoon, it had almost all melted.

*******************

I was ready to go to art group, dreading having to sweep snow off the truck, and hoped the windshield would be easy to clear.  The phone rang just before I walked out, and it was Judi, saying "You want a ride?"  Of course I did!  Judi and Vicky stayed for lunch at Rendezvous Pointe, and Lenore gave me a ride home.  I'm spoiled!

Judi, Vicky and Lenore are all back from their winter spent as "snow birds".  Just in time for a spring snow storm.

****************

The UPS guy was just here, and brought me flowers from Paul and Tracy.  He had to stay and see what kind they were!  I have them in water, but not arranged very well, so will photograph them tomorrow.  They are beautiful!

********************

This is Skip.  When Barrie was here the other day, she had him in the pickup and was taking him to the veterinarian.  He has died.  I don't know how old he was, but Barrie has had him a long time.  He was a great sled dog.

Tuesday

Knitting today.  And reading.  I have my Daniel Smith palette out and the box of paints.  I need to go through what I've got and maybe order some new tubes of paint.  Gee, I hate that!  I just ordered some new, softer, lead for my mechanical pencils.  Sometimes that's all it takes to get me back to work - something new.

********************

This is just a little confusing!

********************

I watched a disturbing movie last night, "August:  Osage County".  Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep were in it.  I like both those actresses and thought it would be good.  It's about a totally dysfunctional family, parents and grown children, who all come together when the father drowns himself.   A little too intense for me.

A friend posted this on Facebook.  Enjoyed it.

Monday

Every day I tell myself to watch for interesting things to photograph so I will have something to post on my blog.  And every day, I don't listen to myself.

This looks yummy, but I have no idea how it will taste. I took beans out of the freezer yesterday, and they are begging for corn bread to go with them.  I'm not crazy about corn bread, and mine is never very good.  I found a recipe for corn bread for the bread machine, and tried it today.  Just took it out of the oven.  I never let the bread machine bake my bread, but bake it in the oven.  Works so much better for me.

********************

Beautiful, quiet, partly cloudy day.  I have the windows open.  The Weather Underground web page says we have 20 inches of snow in Pinedale!  It also says to expect rain and snow starting Wednesday.

I was looking online for a knitting basket, or something to put my knitting in.  I have this great old bowl sitting on top of the kitchen cabinets that I think will work perfectly.  I bought this years ago in Lander, after I was married but before Tracy was born.  I needed something large enough to bake bread.  It has moved five or six times, and is still in excellent condition.

I will either have Barrie get it down for me next time she is here, or ask somebody here who is tall to reach it for me.

Well, I'm on my way down the hall for my daily date with the exercise bike.  I would never use the equipment I had at the house in the same room with me, just kept putting it off.  I guess it feels more important and serious to have to walk down the hall to use it.

I'm doing four miles every day, but can't tell that my legs are any stronger.

Sunday

Barrie and Kasey came to watch the Derby with me.  No fancy hats, but they both wore big gold hoops in their ears.  And Barrie had a beverage in a green plastic glass that wasn't a mint julep, but Kasey said it was a cocktail.

California Chrome won easily, just as predicted.  But some are saying the field was so slow that he didn't have the competition.  I still think Commanding Curve would have won it if the track had been longer.  He was moving up fast, and still gaining at the finish line.

Anyway, it's always exciting to watch, and I love it that you can watch it over and over again on the Internet.

Kasey was really into it, and I couldn't believe how much she knew about the horses.

Barrie's  contract with Verizon is over, and she now has Union Cellular and a new iPhone.  She's pretty impressed with it.

I think I won't attend any hockey games.  in Brazil, some fans tore the toilet stools out of the bathroom at the stadium, and threw them into the stands.  One fan was hit on the head and killed instantly.

Saturday, May 3

I am happy breakfast is over with, and I may just skip that meal tomorrow.  Another fun day in the kitchen with Duene.

I found a recipe to make an omelet in a Ziploc bag.  It sounded good, and fun to make.

The problem started when I reached in the refrigerator to get two eggs out of my wire basket.  The eggs must have really thin shells, because one of them broke when I picked it up.  I wasn't smart enough to get a plate to hold under the basket when I took it out.  So I had raw egg in the bottom of the refrigerator in the vegetable crisper, and on the floor all the way to the sink.  I had forgotten how hard it is to clean a raw, slimy egg up off the floor.  Not since Tracy was three years old and decided to surprise me by making French toast before I woke up.

Dicing a tablespoon of pepper, onion, and tomato takes just as long as a cup or two.

Finally got everything in the bag, all mixed up, and boiled it for 13 minutes.  It tasted pretty good, but I wasn't really in the mood for it by the time it was done.

Judi posted several photos she took in Daniel.  There are some wonderful old buildings there.  My favorite photo from Daniel was these three cows munching away
on hay.  They were in a temporary small pasture right in front of the old Daniel Schoolhouse.  I took at least a dozen photos until I got this one.  They lined themselves up perfectly and posed for me! I call it "Let's Do Lunch".
